Description

OPAL SOLID - BLACK (N2/N3) - 2.54CTS 15x10X1.5MM MATERIAL FROM MINTABIE FIELDS SA This magnificent opal has been cut as a oval design. It is a nice size for a ring or pendant. Highly polished both sides. The colour play on one side is ribbons of blue, green and black on a dark transparent background. The back displays the same colours with stripes and pinfire pattern. I have included a photograph of the back. Rated by me as N2/3 in body tone - well within the ranking of black opals. Shaped in a oval pattern, it has been finished with a low cabochon top and flat bottom. It weighs 2.54cts and measures 15mm x 10mm and is 1.5mm thick. The attached photos form an integral part of the description. Please note that the attached photos were taken by a Samsung Galaxy S8 mobile phone in natural light or under an LED desk lamp. Apart from cropping they have not been enhanced in any way. I am a private seller who was involved in the mining of opal material from the Mintabie, Coober Pedy and Lambina fields for more than 30 years. The material I present for sale (rough or finished) has been either mined or prepared by me and therefore I try to keep prices as realistic as possible. I do not purchase/on-sell any finished products. NOTE: There are many good sites on the internet that offer valuable information about precious opal and its unique qualities. If you are new to the 'Opal Buying' experience in any form I suggest you seek some of this advice. 'If someone offers an item at auction for 99cents then maybe it's all it's worth.' Can't blame the seller if you overpay in the auction frenzy. Please contact me if you have any questions.
