This weighs 3.00 CTS and has been cut into a pear shape. The measurements are approximately 14.7 x 8.4 x 4.8 mm. The stone has magnificent play of color and displays shifting iridescent tones such as blue, teal, green and red. Some hints of gold can also be seen to travel across the surface of the gem. The colors are very bright and are displayed on a highly polished black background, making for an excellent contrast. There is also a partial honeycomb pattern, which adds further interest and rarity to the piece. As with all opals, the colors are most intense when viewed under a light source, either artificial or sunlight. This is a natural gemstone and has been smoke treated to enhance color. Don't be fooled by lesser imitations. This is not a doublet or filled product, this is solid earth mined stone. There is no discernable damage or chips and is in excellent condition.
