0.65ct Australian Black Opal. This is a very nice picture opal with a river of play of colour running through the body of the gem. From some angles it actually looks like a jumping dolphin! The colours are very bright, showing mostly blues and greens and the body tone is nearly all in the black opal range. It is an excellent ring size stone at 8.50mm X 7.00mm and has a fairly low dome to show the largest possible face for the carat weight. This would be a very good introduction to Australian black opals, it isn't hugely expensive like some black opals which have full face play of colour. Nevertheless, it will make a fantastic solitaire ring as even the potch(colourless) areas show some nice patterns. Priced below market value but I am fairly flexible on price so please feel free to make me an offer and I guarantee that no reasonable offer will be refused. As prices for Australian black opal continue to rise, these picture stones are becoming much more popular as they are more affordable than full colour opals and in my opinion can look just as good if not better at times.
